Connect. Restore. Heal.

Native Landscape Design

ABOUT

At Solidago Landscape Design, we believe landscaping should do more than be aesthetically pleasing; it should connect, restore, and heal.

Our mission is to transform grass lawns and outdated landscapes into vibrant, ecologically rich spaces that support community well-being and environmental health.

We reimagine spaces as thriving green sanctuaries that invite connection with nature. By reconnecting people with the land, we’re not just creating beautiful spaces, we’re cultivating stewardship, and a deeper sense of place.

With Solidago, every project is a step toward a healthier, more resilient future.

FOCUSED ON REGENERATION

Regenerative landscaping is an approach that goes beyond sustainability by actively restoring and enhancing the health of ecosystems. We support homeowners through that process with our developmental services and educational materials, because these restored habitats aren’t just beautiful yards. They’re living infrastructure that needs to be tended to.

Native plants sequester carbon through their roots, attract life above and below the ground, and build the biodiversity our communities and wildlife depend on. Solidago Landscape Design exists to help people make a real difference in their own backyards, one native habitat at a time.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Angela Haan is the Owner and Design Specialist of Solidago Landscape Design. She is a dreamer, experienced farmer, wild mushroom forager, community garden educator, and self-described friend to trees. She brings a combination of passion and hands-on expertise to every project she takes on.

Angela holds a dual BA in Anthropology and Environmental Sustainability, with a focus on building food systems that are more equitable, accessible, and sustainable. That foundation shapes how she approaches every landscape; not just as a design challenge, but as an opportunity to heal the soil and strengthen community.

She believes that native plant communities and mindful stewardship can reshape our relationship with the land and with each other. Her mission is to empower people to take action where they are, and plant the seeds for a better future.

THE PROCESS

1. Site Visit: We begin with an on-site consultation to discuss your vision, timeline, budget, and aesthetic preferences. During the visit, I’ll take measurements, collect soil samples, and assess existing site conditions to inform the design process.

Within Grand Rapids: Free Site Visit
30-45 minutes away: $50
45 Minutes plus: $100

2. Design: Using the data gathered during the site visit, I’ll develop a custom design tailored to your specific landscape. The vast majority or plants selected will be native to your eco-region and matched to your site’s unique conditions and biome. A detailed project cost breakdown will be provided alongside the design for your review.

Design Fee: $50/hour

3. Paperwork & Plant Orders: Once the design is approved, we’ll review all project documents together, including terms and conditions and the outlined responsibilities of both the Solidago team and the client. After signing the contract and receiving a down payment, we’ll begin sourcing materials and placing plant orders.

4. Site Preparation & Install: On our agreed-upon start date, the Solidago team will begin preparing the site for planting. Once installation is complete, we’ll provide educational resources to empower you to properly maintain and steward your new habitat going forward.
